In the early morning hours on August 21, 2023 a structure fire resulted in the total loss of 92-year old Mineola Country Club. The fire completely destroyed the clubhouse, Jorgie’s restaurant, bar, deck, locker room, restrooms and pro shop. The fire appeared to have started on the east side of the building around 12:30 a.m. and the Mineola fire department with the assistance of 5 area fire departments rushed to put out the blaze. Unfortunately, it spread very quickly and took until about 4:00 a.m. to extinguish.
Club Manager Allen Brock, Board President Kris Rinks and board members Dan Carroll, Dana Oatley, Bill Stone, Ronnie Elms, Larry Elms, and Eddie Garcia immediately began preparations to locate a temporary pro shop and open the course. For months the club operated out of an RV until a temporary facility could be built. That facility, renamed “Caddy Shack”, is now being used as a special event venue for birthday parties, wedding & baby showers, reunions, graduation festivities, etc.
Five months later, a groundbreaking was held with the slogan “Bigger & Better”. Construction of the new complex began shortly afterwards. The weekend of October 25-27, 2024 Mineola Country Club hosted the grand opening of their new facility. None of it would have been possible without the support and patience of its members.
