Mineola Country Club is located at the corner where U.S. Highway 80 intersects with West State Loop 564. It sits on land once owned by the Jennings family, which operated a dairy from the location. Old structures on the old dairy farm were eventually replaced with a new clubhouse built in 1932 featuring indoor/outdoor entertaining space and a swimming pool.
A lack of money during the Great Depression almost bankrupted the club. They cut back on operations during World War II then ramped up again in the late 1940s and 1950s. By the 1960s, the club was THE place to hang out. It began gaining membership and introducing new activities such as duplicate bridge. Gas grills were added and certain rules softened, such as allowing beer in paper cups on the course. By the 1970s and ’80s, the big focus centered on adding country club-type amenities, lawn sprinklers for the course and golf carts for convenience.
On August 21, 2023 the original clubhouse burned. It was a total loss. The membership rallied together, and a building committee was formed the next week. The final design of the new club was approved by the stockholders in January 2024 and work began in February. The new clubhouse features a beautiful outdoor space, larger bar and pro shop area, a golf simulator room, a beautiful restaurant, and many other amenities. We celebrated our grand opening October 25 – 27, 2024.
